Free text tools for writers and developers

Count, convert, compare and format text in your browser. Useful for meta descriptions with strict limits, clean URL slugs, placeholder content and reviewing changes.

Count and convert

The Word Counter shows words, characters, sentences, reading time and keyword density as you type, which helps when a title tag, meta description or social post has a hard limit. The Case Converter & Slug Generator switches text between title case, sentence case, camelCase and snake_case, and turns headlines into clean URL slugs.

Draft, compare and publish

Fill layouts with realistic placeholder paragraphs, lists or HTML from the Lorem Ipsum Generator while the real copy is being written. When it arrives, the Text Diff Checker shows exactly what changed between two versions, and the Markdown to HTML Converter turns notes and documentation into clean HTML and back.

Writing for search and accessibility

Keep titles to about 60 characters and descriptions under 160 so they aren't cut off, write link text that says where the link goes, and use real headings in order. Check how a page will look in search with the Meta Tag & SERP Preview.

Frequently asked questions

How long should a meta description be?

Aim for about 120 to 155 characters. Google trims longer descriptions on most screens, and very short ones often get replaced with text from the page.

What makes a good URL slug?

Short, lowercase words separated by hyphens that describe the page, without dates, stop words or special characters, such as /guides/website-launch-checklist/.

Is my text sent anywhere?

No. These tools run in your browser, so drafts, client copy and documents stay on your device.
